Yet another day of political chaos here in South Korea. And at the end of the day, we're left again with more questions than we have answers. The day began when authorities arrived here, about 100 of them, as part of an attempt to detain South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. That attempt is related to an investigation and charges of abuse of power and insurrection related to his attempt to declare martial law on December 3.
Now the authorities here this morning were able to enter the residence following minor scuffles. There were no injuries reported. However, a few hours later, they were stopped by a human barricade of about 200 security and military personnel, who apparently remain loyal to President Yoon, a conservative.
Authorities then called that detention attempt off, at least temporarily, saying there was too much of a safety risk. It's not clear what happens from here. That detention warrant is still valid until Monday and authorities have not ruled out the possibility that they may conduct another detention attempt before then.

OR YOU CAN USE MY SECOND TAKE, IF THE AUDIO IS BETTER:
((NARRATOR)) We've just seen another day of political chaos here in South Korea, and at the end of the day, as usual, we're left with more questions than we have answers.
The day started right behind me when authorities arrived at the compound of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol as part of efforts to detain him. That is part of an investigation into alleged insurrection and abuse of power related to his attempt -- and in fact his successful short-lived declaration -- of martial law last month.
Now when authorities arrived, they were not able to enter that compound behind me right away. There were minor scuffles near the perimeter of the compound. They eventually were able to enter. However, a short time later they experienced a human barricade of military and other security personnel, some of whom were armed.
Now there was no violence and no reported injuries. However, authorities called off that detention attempt, saying the risk of violence was just too high.
It's not clear where exactly things go from here. The detention warrant against Yoon is valid until Monday and authorities have not ruled out another attempt to detain him before then.
