sound bite 1 Thennie Freeman, DC Director of Park And Recreation
“So, you know, at DPR we are about creating memorable moments . We have 20 dog parks. It makes sense for us to have our fury..furbie friends have access to the pools after the pools are closed.”
“We started in 2011. And so, we’ve been doing it every (year) since. So, we’re really, really excited about it. And it grows it grows. It started at one park and now we are up to four.”
“The response is overwhelming. It’s very popular. And some of our neighboring jurisdictions have started doing the same thing. And so, emulation is a sign of admiration. Shout out to all the other districts who are now having a party with a purpose for our “Pawed” friends.”
sound bite 2 Ajia, dog owner
“Yeah. Carne is my dog. We think he is 4 years old. Our neighbors actually adopted him and then gave him to us. Carne does love to swim. He loves to chase balls. He likes to meet new people and new dogs. And so, this is a great opportunity for him to enjoy the city that he calls home .”
sound bite 3 Joseph Melo, dog owner
“So, I have a dog. He is about two and a half. He is half border collie and a bunch of different types of hound. And, we came here to see if he would swim. And unfortunately, he is not the biggest fan of water. But, I’ve been trying to get him in the pool.”
“ I’ve only lived in this neighborhood for a year. But, I hear they’ve been doing it for many years. I hope to come back every time. And, may be he’ll get a little bit better swimming.”
“As you can see, I’ve gotten pretty wet myself. So, I think I’ve been doing more swimming than Hank does.”
