STORY: About 1500 paratroopers of the Ivanovo airborne formation took part in a military drill on Thursday (April 22) taking off from the Taganrog airfield as part of a control check for the winter training period.
Military exercises are held near the Ukrainian border amid a Russian military build-up and drills in Crimea which Russia seized from Ukraine in 2014.
The EU's top diplomat said on Monday that Russia has massed some 100,000 troops near the border with Ukraine.
