Over 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East where the act is commonly practiced. This is according to the World Health Organization which says 28 of the 30 countries where FGM is prevalent are in Africa. Maureen Ojiambo reports
