[[VO]] According to a study done by Harvard University, it can manifest itself in various forms, including demanding sex in exchange for grades. This unsavory practice is used against female students in Nigeria, Botswana, Tanzania -- and it's been used to exploit women seeking employment in South Africa. The distasteful predatory behavior has also been used in the exploitation of women seeking land rights in Ghana and Sierra Leone. [[OC – GINNY]] Hello everyone and welcome to ‘Our Voices’ – I am Ginny Niwa and I am joined by my co-hosts Auriane Itangishaka and Simegnish Yekoye. This week on “Our Voices,” we are discussing the different types of sextortion that target women in Africa and how they can combat as well as survive the abuse commonly practiced on-line through blackmail. [[HOST 3]] [[CAM 2 Ginny]] Well, Ladies!! So, what is your thought on this topic? Sextortion feels like a crime that should punishable by law. Many victims carry a great deal of shame, so they would rather dismiss the crime rather than trying to bring the perpetuator to justice. However, it is important that our audience understand that is a crime!
