Pretty Loud, the first all-female Roma rap band, has a mission: to end early marriage for Roma girls. Well-known throughout the Balkans, the Serbian band also promotes university education and social integration for members of an ethnic group that is historically isolated. The young women of Pretty Loud have lived what they rap. Zlata became a mother at 17. Exceptional student Dijana faced discrimination in school. Samantha was married off by her father without her consent. “She will never be happy,” the group raps. In another song, it declares, “Enough is enough.”
