Indonesia's coordinating minister for maritime affairs and investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, says Jakarta is seeking to deepen relations with Africa, after leading a delegation to South Africa, Kenya and Mozambique.
Luhut met with counterparts on trade and multilateral relations.
Following a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Luhut says Indonesia plans to build a power plant in the southern African nation to help resolve an energy crisis that has forced it to ration electricity.
VOA’s Peter Clottey spoke to Luhut about his recent trip to Africa and Jakarta's intentions on the continent.
