The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, Thursday escalated its rhetoric against Niger's junta, activating the regional bloc's standby force for possible intervention in the West African country.
Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who chaired an extraordinary summit of ECOWAS in Abuja, Nigeria, said, "No option is taken off the table, including the use of force as a last resort.”
