Kiswahili is recognized as one of the official languages of the East African country, Kenya. In early July, Kenya commemorated World Kiswahili Language Day with visitors from around the world who turned up in Mombasa to enjoy Swahili art, poetry, and dance.
In Nairobi, a panel of experts discussed the rise of Kiswahili language, a spoken word performance known as “Shairi” was shared, and the legendary Swahili rumba band, Les Wanyika, performed some of their all-time favorite songs such as “Sina Makosa.”
