Debates have sparked among Zimbabwean economists amid allegations of the government artificially manipulating the local currency to strengthen its value against the U.S. dollar, despite the ongoing increased costs of goods.
Government critics argue that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is using the strengthened currency as a tactic to garner votes for the August 23 elections.
