STORYLINE:
Four Nigerians were rescued from the rudder of a cargo ship by Brazilian Federal Police near the coastal city of Vitória on July 10th.
The group travelled more than 5,000km (around 3,106 miles) to the Brazilian coast, for almost two weeks - hiding in a very small space with no protection from falling to the sea.
Brazilian Federal Police released video of officers providing water to the group before rescuing them.
The Nigerians were spotted during a crew change on the ship, which had stopped by the coastal city.
Despite being in a “poor state of health,” all four recovered, according to police.
Two returned to Nigeria, while the other two applied for asylum in Brazil.
