In Kenya, new anti-government protests turned violent yesterday between police and protesters. Reports say protesters vandalized offices and set fires in some parts of the capital, Nairobi. The Kenya Nation newspaper reports that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has vowed that planners and executors of the crimes would face the law. The protests are led by opposition leader Raila Odinga over the high cost of living. Gabriel Muthuma, policy and governance analyst, tells VOA’s James Butty, the protesters were anything but peaceful as nine people were killed.
