Namibia Court Voids Cancellation of China Lithium Deal

A Namibian human rights activist says African countries with vast mineral and other natural resources should take a cue from his country’s management of its mineral resources. Earlier this month, Namibia banned the export of unprocessed lithium and other important minerals as part of efforts to encourage local processing. In a related development, Namibia’s High Court ruled Tuesday that the country’s mines minister did not have the power to cancel the Chinese lithium mining company Xinfeng’s license without first asking the judiciary to revoke the previous agreement.
