Analyst Calls for Multilateral Approach Against Wagner Group in Africa

The Wagner mercenary group’s weekend insurrection against Russia has reignited debate about the group’s involvement in Africa. Wagner is operating in Central African Republic, Libya, Mali, and Sudan. Heather Ashby, acting director of the Center for Russia and Europe at the United States Institute of Peace, says the group’s involvement in Africa is multi-layered, including resources, military advisors, and mercenaries. Ashby tells Daybreak Africa host James Butty, it would take a multilateral approach to contain Wagner in Africa.
