Sierra Leone’s President Seeks Re-Election as Campaign Begins

Campaigning for Sierra Leone’s June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections officially began Tuesday. President Julius Maada Bio is seeking re-election as candidate of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). He is being challenged by 12 other candidates, among them Samura Kamara of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party. Reporter Kelvin Lewis in the Sierra Leone capital Freetown, tells Daybreak host James Butty, President Maada Bio has promised to create half a million jobs for the youths if he wins a second term.
