On Daybreak Africa: Campaigning for Sierra Leone’s June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections officially began Tuesday. President Julius Maada Bio is seeking re-election as candidate of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). He is being challenged by 12 other candidates. Plus, the U.N. estimates more than 843,000 have been displaced by the fighting in Sudan, Media workers stage a one-day blackout to protest military curbs on press freedom.
