It is 38 pages long, about half of which are covered in thick black lines masking sensitive information. Of the documents Trump held, 184 were marked classified, and he had written notes on some of them. And that's why they referred the matter to the Department of Justice.” ((Video: graphics of Trump with the word “Hoax” -https://app.frame.io/player/ab9e43b9-8987-464a-ab36-edd6c378f33a -OVER TO Kim Wehle SOT 1: https://app.frame.io/player/04c570da-e09e-4acc-854f-7bf4657930ec TC 00:06:11 - 00:07:21)) ((NARRATOR)) On social media, Trump has condemned the search as illegal and a “hoax.” But neither Trump nor any of his defenders have explained why he kept such a large volume of highly classified documents, one legal expert told VOA, and she believes the former president is in serious legal jeopardy. And for 18 months, he was asked to give the information back and he refused.” ((Video: more of the redacted affidavit: https://www.reutersconnect.com/all?id=tag%3Areuters.com%2C2022%3Anewsml_WD088726082022RP1&share=true, B-roll of police outside Mar-a-Lago)) ((NARRATOR)) Wehle expressed a concern that was also echoed Friday in the affidavit, that one of the reasons the FBI retrieved the documents was the fear that American human intelligence sources could be compromised. Are there human beings that are serving the United States people, the public? Are they now in danger because this information got into the hands of our foreign adversaries?” ((Video: Trump leaves Trump Tower in NYC earlier this month, waves to the cameras, gets into a car: AFP V000_32GB77N SLUG 1ST - IMAGES - US - POLITICS - JUSTICE - FRAUD - TRUMP Creation date 8/10/2022)) ((NARRATOR)) The Justice Department will have to determine whether to bring charges against Trump, David Laufman told VOA, which would involve weighing a number of factors. ((Video: David Laufman SOT 12 https://app.frame.io/player/92857af6-a102-41ee-9715-8c0dfa4b419e TC: 00:03:46 - 00:05:00)) ((David Laufman, Former DOJ Counterintelligence Chief)) ((ZOOM Courtesy )) “Among those things the department would be looking for, further aggravating factors, would be efforts to conceal from the government that the classified material was at Mar-a-Lago, and there are some indications of public reporting that, at least through his attorneys, Mr. Trump was trying to conceal remaining classified materials there. There's some reporting about boxes being moved around that raise serious questions about what they were trying to do.” ((Video: https://www.reutersconnect.com/all?id=tag%3Areuters.com%2C2022%3Anewsml_WD091926082022RP1&share=true President Biden sitting at the table with others at the White House on Friday)) ((NARRATOR)) President Joe Biden, who was asked Friday if he was concerned that his predecessor posed a threat to national security, said he would let the Justice Department determine that.
